Career
Kumar Sangakkara was the most complete left-handed batter of his generation and, for much of his career, also Sri Lanka's wicketkeeper. His Test average climbed above 60 once he was relieved of the gloves, and he scored eleven Test double centuries, second only to Don Bradman.
He is the only player to score four consecutive hundreds in World Cup matches, doing so in 2015 at the age of thirty-seven. Off the field he became one of the game's most articulate voices, delivering the MCC Spirit of Cricket Cowdrey Lecture in 2011.

Overview
What the figures show
Kumar Sangakkara has six IPL seasons behind him, 2008 through 2013, worth 1,687 runs at 121.2 per hundred balls. The best of the seasons was 2011 — 358 runs. The 94 made in 2008 is the highest score of that IPL career. Fifty has been passed ten times. Only most of the 181 batters with 300 IPL balls behind them score slower: the median is 135.2, this is 121.2. Fours and sixes account for roughly 56% of the total — 195 and 27 of them.
The clubs, in order: Punjab Kings (2008–2010) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (2011–2013). Most of the runs, 1,009 of them, came in the Punjab Kings years.
There is a Big Bash record too: 173 runs in 13 matches, 3 of the scoring shots clearing the rope. Side by side the two T20 records move at almost the same pace — 121.2 per hundred balls in the IPL, 120.1 in the Big Bash. The averages read 25.95 and 14.42.
