Career
Ajinkya Rahane was an overseas-conditions specialist in a batting order that mostly was not. He scored Test centuries in Australia, England, New Zealand, South Africa and the West Indies, and his record away from home compares favourably with his record in India.
As stand-in captain he led India to a series victory in Australia in 2020-21 after the Adelaide collapse, taking charge of a side stripped of its regular captain and most of its first-choice bowlers, and scoring a century in the Melbourne Test that turned the series.
He is also one of India's most reliable slip fielders, and has captained Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings in the IPL.
